Why do big successful businesses spend vast amounts of money on advertising every single minute of every single day? If they are such a big and successful business then why are they advertising all the time? If they are doing very well with their product or service then surely they don’t need to do that do they? And yet they do, and they do it every single moment of every single day. Why in the name of sanity do they bombard us with their adverts all the time as if the world would end if they didn’t?
We now live in a world that centres around advertising, with what feels like, everyone on the planet pushing to sell their product or service. Not a new thing, of course, far from it in fact, but such a situation is now far more noticeable since the internet came along. Thanks to the internet we now simply cannot move for such things, and now with clickbait methods being used, it all does add to this situation.
Clickbait advertising for those not familiar with such a term simply means news websites that highlight attention grabbing, and often misleading, news headlines that prompt people to click on the headline link to read the article. This is mainly done so that advertisers will see that people are visiting that specific page, or the website in general, and seeing their advertisements as a result.
Advertisers have developed many wide ranging and extremely clever ways to get people to not only see their advertisements over the years but also creating a need for future customers to buy their products or services - but the big question is does it work?
If you are anything like me then you will just simply look past all those irritating advertisements and only focus on what you are looking for. When it comes to those advert covered websites with things popping up all over the page then I would also imagine that just like me you would leave that type of website on the spot and not waste your time trying to get past such irrelevant junk adverts and other clickbait news items? I would imagine that just like you and me most people would simply ignore such adverts and only look for products and services as and when they need them?
I would imagine that advertising does work to a degree and that a small percentage of people do in fact buy a product or service as a direct result of seeing such advertisements but I would also imagine that far more will not respond to such relentless advertising and just ignore them?
Efforts are made of course to target advertisements towards those who will most likely buy such services and products but even then most I believe will not bother with all those all singing and all dancing adverts unless they need them at the time and not as a direct result of being bombarded by them day in and day out.
On a final note I do tend to find that the problem these days is that everyone, or at least it seems like it at times, are all just advertising their products and services to each other - but where are the customers I ask?
