After trying various commenting systems, that many people tend to use on their websites so that visitors can leave a simple message or make a comment about something, I started to realise that although there are a couple of advantages to using software that offers various all singing and all dancing features like that, social networking plug-in services being a perfect example, I did start to wonder however if I needed such features when it came to leaving just a few simple words on a website?
Do you really need all that?
When it comes to just sending a fast comment, (but not a private message take note as others will be able to read it as well on a website of course), or a simple reply, rather than filling in a contact form or sending an email, then it does tend to save a lot of time, so having a commenting box feature on a website, really is ideal. And, of course, because it can be seen by other site visitors, as stated already, they also can add a reply or make a comment if the subject is of interest to them.
The real question about such a website feature however is do we really need any more features beyond that? In the end all you need is the person's name, an email address for notification reply purposes, and of course the message itself.
Those plug-in commenting services by the way often require you to agree to their terms and conditions of usage, if you instal such a service on your website, that also includes using your profile and activity details for their data collection systems which are then in turn used for advertising targeting purposes in the main. Not a big deal really but I thought it worth a mention.
