Way back at the start of the 1980's I started to write little articles for magazines and newspapers on the martial arts, social issues and various other subjects.
Creating a website in those days was more than complicated to do, and often very basic regarding site features etc.. compared to how easy it is to create a website now with all those ready made templates and so on. Anyway, I took my very first shaky steps at creating a website and began to republish the written work that I had done since the 1980's which I had kept as saved archived files.
Over the years better websites with more features came along which prompted me to do a new website in 2011. The new published version was featured in various local and national newspapers at the time. That site is now long gone but it served me well at the time for a number of years. It was in 2011 that I adopted to use a [Pen Name] as a marketing tool and the name ‘Dragonwriter (UK)’ came along because the mythical Dragon is very much part of the Chinese martial arts.
After many different themed websites were created over the following years, that in the main focused on various different subjects, the ‘Pen Name’ changed again from the ‘Dragonwriter (UK)’ to ‘The Dragonwriter (UK) Network’ of published websites. The change of name was now a business ‘Trading Name’ and no longer a Pen Name.
Both of those names however were no longer used during and after the 2017 - 2018 period when all of my publishing websites were deleted and replaced with this brand new publishing website called ‘The (UK) Writer’ that went online in May 2019.
The merging of those various themed websites was the direct result of having the problem of updating them all the time, which was a very time consuming thing to do, so I came to the conclusion that putting all of those articles together, on just one website, was the best way forward. As for the name of the website, that was a simple case of highlighting the fact it was an article based publication and to show it was located in the UK. |
