One of the most iconic coastal seaside towns in the UK, England, is of course Blackpool. Regarded by many as the Las Vegas of Britain. A direct reference to Las Vegas in the USA for being a somewhat famous place of entertainment.
When it comes to the UK. there are of course many seaside towns of equal status but Blackpool does tend to be the main one for many various reasons. The famous Blackpool Tower many would say is what makes it what it is today due to that hard to miss landmark that can be seen for many miles around. One of the other somewhat famous features of Blackpool is for sure those Trams that go up and down along the seafront. Back when I was a child going on one of those trams for a short journey along the seafront was a wonderful experience to have. Sadly however those Victorian Trams were not built for comfort. True boneshakers in every sense of the word. I must admit for those who live in the area and had to use those old Trams everyday to go to work it must have been not something to look forward to at all. Of course they could always get the bus. Some years ago, to my delight, those old boneshakers were put in a museum and a brand new state of the art Tram came into service. Very nice and very comfortable to travel on. Many would say that those old Trams were somewhat iconic and full of character, and although that was very much true, I still say when it comes to comfort I would rather have the new modern ones every time.
