I sometimes, but not often, take a look at those instructors who run regular martial art classes via their business page on those social networking platforms and sometimes I may pay a visit to their website also. It is always an informal visit and often just out of general interest regarding what they do. Often very good, I hasten to add. I sometimes take a look out of interest if something catches my eye, as the old saying goes.
On occasion I take a look at their business page, (often on Facebook in the main), and although everything looks fine and professional I do tend to find myself looking further to find out who the main instructor is, or maybe who the assistant instructors are. In most cases it clearly shows who the main instructor is on those pages, and on their websites, but sometimes it does take a bit of investigation to find out such information. Sadly some martial arts instructors really do fail to make the effort and state who they are in a more easy to find way. Most martial art websites often provide lots of information about what they do including lots of photos and class times, and so on, but in some cases trying to find out who the instructor is, or who the instructors are when it comes to who will be taking the classes, is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. This of course is a bad thing to do if wishing to recruit new beginners to their classes. Imagine if you were a brand new beginner to the martial arts and looking to join a club, or a class, for the very first time but could not find out who the instructor was on their website. Surprisingly this is far more common than you may think. Many instructors of course do provide their details in addition to lots of other things but sadly some don’t. While some needlessly go totally over the top with their details, others seem to shy away from providing that information. Or at least it looks that way in some cases. The main thing is to always make sure that you, as the main instructor, provide such details so that new potential students know who you are. Would you as a beginner join an all singing, all dancing martial arts class, or club, based on the website that you have just had a look at, but without bothering to also look to find out who the teachers were in addition? You of course do not need to provide a long list of details about yourself, a short summary of about 3 minutes at the most to read will often be more than fine for visitors to your page or website, but it does need to be easy to find in addition.
